I say this as a teacher... COVID

I have been listening to pundits saying that is more detrimental to have kids stay at home than go to school and risk getting COVID. I have not really seen the reason for this argument.

I know plenty of people who home school their kids and they seem bright and engaged and often seem stronger academically and creatively. I suppose the idea is that they don't get to socialize. Still, this isn't forever and you could make the case that having a little bit of practice in isolation and creating your own entertainment is a good skill to have.

Moreover, for kids who get bullied or have trouble concentrating in classes with all kinds of distractions would be better served at home.

It seems to me the argument is less about the kids but more that parents don;t have the ability to have someone look after their kids. They have to go to work etc. So why not just say that? Why always some pretense/spin that it's good for the kids.
