You can be a Vegetarian/Vegan on Atkins

The media never bothered to actually read his book so it became a meat/fat diet that got everyone into a tizzy that he was promoting heart attack inducing food.

He simply noted that meat is an appetite suppressant thus eating it will "fill you up" so you won't be as hungry as often. And meat has no carbs so it won't make you fat. I mean these are just scientific facts - but his diet included no meat approaches and he still does not recommend any meat with Nitrites - (that includes pretty much all processed meat and bacon).

Green leafy vegetables, fish, eggs, and berries.

Other diets like the Keto diet is basically an Atkins Rippoff - any of the diets touting low carb is an Atkins ripoff.

Like you I did well on this diet but it's not easy when you have a sweet tooth. I have managed to drop 40lbs but there is a Covid creep and falling into some bad habits.

Cut up celery and put peanut butter (the kind where the ingredient is Peanuts and nothing else) not that Skippy crap. This replaces potato chips. Chocolate - Dark 85% or above - no flavours - Coffee no sugar cream okay instead of Coca Cola - make it iced coffee. Teas.

The problem is all the snack kind of stuff.

I cut up onions, peppers, mushrooms, black olives - put them in a container. Then in the morning because I am in a hurry - I used to always have cereal (the absolute worst food you can ear - including any and all Musli). So take 3 eggs - some milk - beat it up dump in frying pan take handful of the vegetables you cut up the day or two before and put in - boom an omelette or scrambled eggs in 6 minutes if that.

Take a Spinach salad to work with onions black olives - same as the omelette and bring dressing and you're good (hard boiled eggs or Smoked Salmon). Dinner - Stirfy in a wok - vegetables with Shrimp or some sort of fish. Try to get down to red meat just once a week. I'd rather have a really good Filet mignon once a week than 4 mediocre burgers.

All is easier said than done. Have one day a week where you have that 47 gram of Sugar A&W Rootbeer with two big ole scoops of ice cream But only once a week.
