yes - the group that wants these pronoun changes want it to be a crime for other people NOT to use their chosen pronoun.
So if you say "this is Pat, she works in editing" - that you should be charged with some sort of crime for using the word "she" when Pat considers him/herself gender neutral.
The problem with forcing people to change their vocabulary doesn't change the hearts and minds of people. So forcing a right winger to say Ze or Zer instead of He and she will only piss those people off. Yes I guess you won because you got a law that forces people to say the right thing.
Jordan Peterson - a conservative university professor gets beaten up but he is correct when it comes to language changing naturally.
I maintain that people are focusing on the vocabularly and not the intent.
I went up to a table of 4 women and said "hey girls how's it going?" and they were offended because I said girls because they were int heir 20s and that they may not all have been girls. I asked every one of my female friends if this would have offended them and all of them said no. Times are changing and that's fine but I am strong adherent of freedom of speech.
Now I don't agree with Peterson on many things and I have written to hom to knock his arguments down but on this issues it's difficult to find fault
