Most of my A380 miles were on the Kangaroo Route, first through Singapore and then Dubai (both had their merits). Occasionally I'd fly SYD to/from LAX or DFW.
Business class was always fully sold and economy was either full or close to it. They probably had too many seats in first and premium economy, because even with all the people using points to upgrade, I'd still get bumped up a class for free a couple times a year. But the planes were always full, so it's hard to imagine they were losing money on those routes.
I guess it's serendipitous that Qantas cancelled its plan to order more last year, considering COVID-19.
