Here's a couple of recent articles on blood type:

In short, there's nothing conclusive. Some early data suggested type A fares worse than O. The most recent one from Harvard Medical School indicated no worsening of symptoms based on blood type, but they found something else interesting in their sample:
An intriguing finding from the study was that there appeared to be a greater chance of people with blood types B and AB who were Rh positive testing positive for the virus. Even stronger evidence was assembled by the team that symptomatic people with blood type O were less likely to test positive.
So maybe they found some influence of blood type on test positive rate, but didn't find any connection to severity of symptoms. But we shouldn't conclude anything at this point until multiple studies conducted by independent teams in different places reach the same conclusion.
I'm very sorry to hear about your wife. As you well know, if she's healthy the odds are in favor of a full recovery, but there are no guarantees. You'll be in my thoughts.
