When somebody tests positive for COVID-19 and they visited a supermarket within the last few days, we don't close down the supermarket and quarantine all the employees and every customer who passed through the door on the day the infected person visited.
If they do go ahead with the football season, they will not quarantine everyone who theoretically could have been exposed. They will assess risk and only quarantine the people who were most at risk of getting infected. It won't be a zero-risk approach. It will be similar to what most of the working world is doing right now. If their approach to risk management results in too many infections, then they'll rethink it.
