I felt pretty OK with outdoor dining up until indoor dining resumed

As soon as indoor dining resumed, our two favorite restaurants were packed. They may be technically staying within the 50% capacity limit based on fire code, but they are not following the 6 foot table separation rule and are about as full as before the pandemic. They have customers waiting inside for tables to open who crowd around the hostess desk or bar, and a lot of the customers are lax with wearing masks: e.g. noses not covered, or hanging off the chin while they talk. Both restaurants have an owner/hostess who is just as bad, constantly pulling down her mask to speak with customers and servers.

So for now, we're taking a break from these places, after seeing what's going on inside. We've even stopped ordering take out from them, because now in order to pay, I've got to snake my way through waiting patrons who crowd around the hostess desk, and then deal with the hostess who won't keep her mask on. It's a big change from just a month ago, when I could pay over the phone and a mask-wearing server with gloves would step outside to bring me the food.

So far, the number of active cases in our town is still on a slow decline (now 29 from a peak of ~180). But I want to wait and see a little longer before we go back.
