Henry Perry, the man who brought his barbecue to KC has been formally recognized as the Father of KC Barbecue. Mr Perry was known as the mentor of the men who led to the foundation of the two best known Barbecue joints in KC, Arthur Bryant's and Gates Barbecue. The greater KC area has over 100 barbecue joints presently and hosts the American Royal World Series of Barbecue, the biggest barbecue party and contest in the world.
