Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, the no politics rule was pretty consistently enforced here. Same for no personal attacks. Covid-19 quickly turned into a political issue, and Rod (and whoever else might be moderating this board) let the virus threads go off into politics. Soon enough, we got into non-virus related political discussions. If you look at the current state of things, most political discussions go unmoderated, and Rod even participates in some of them. But others get deleted quickly. I appreciate it when Rod deletes new troll threads from certain individuals who have a history of it. But otherwise, I can't see a pattern to why some threads get left alone even though they are 100% political and getting nasty, while other calmer threads disappear.
It's Rod's call whether he wants politics on his site or not. I kind of liked Central better when it was a general interest forum, but obviously I'm not complaining too hard since I'm still here.
In order to do what you suggest though, there would have to be very clear and firm rules, and modding this forum would be a full-time job at first.
