But isn't this the point - customers often choose to vote with their wallet and you have the right to choose to not buy from a business because you don't like their religious, political views. Or you hate the owner.
So I don't really see why a seller can't do the same thing. Take the Cake company that would not sell to the Gay couple. If I were Gay why the hell would I care? If you view the store as homophobic why would you want to give them money? Just go buy your cake from someone else. Like you they can vote with their wallet.
I think everyone does this to a degree - you donate to charity that aligns with your own views.
The one Dixie Chick made a negative comment about Bush and that was that - they were done - Their country music base burned their albums. I may agree with the Dixie Chicks - but I am not one of their consumers. They should have their freedom of speech but their fans have the freedom to "cancel them" as a poster below noted.
The Dixie Chicks had a different opinion and the Republican country music base cancelled them. Too bad so sad.
My bank in Canada was donating money to a political party I disliked -- so I pulled all my money out and went to a different bank. Granted that probably didn't much matter to them then but in a few years they might be a little upset. And I will write them a letter with my current bank statement to show them that they might be smart to avoid getting political.
Regardless of your political stance - good on you for putting your money where your mouth is. Vote with your wallet - in the end that probably has more impact on change as companies only care about dollar signs.
