Not something we want to see. They are good at protecting structures. We have been here a long time, and this is one of the worst years for brush fires.
The Cave Creek Fire Complex, back around 2005 they ended up stopping it battling from the air at the edge of a mesa visible from us. They had an enormous amount of air resources and put it out in one day, but that was after it had burned for weeks and was threatening power lines that supply Phoenix.
We are exposed, after that fire I installed a fire pump that draws from swimming pool. After watching how effective retardant is, this year I added an eductor to spray retardant foam. We would be evacuated if a fire got close, the retardant I can spray on house, bushes etc., and leave. It lasts a long time.
