In this area, we pay $75/person for that in a midrange regional chain restaurant. That's also a typical bill at our favorite local place, a casual Italian restaurant in a suburban strip mall.

For a semi-comfortable chair, white tablecloth, good service, and a long wine list, we expect to spend a minimum of $100/person if we're drinking plonk. But if one of us wants a quality steak and a good bottle of wine, it would be more like $120-150. That's what I assumed Dave meant when he said "fairly high end". That's for special occasions and we only eat like that maybe once every five years.

During the pandemic, we've been getting takeout once a week to help support a few of the independent restaurants in our town. The bill is usually around $100 for three main courses (the two kids split one) plus one app. Fortunately, they've kept their full menu. The food quality suffered a bit when things first shut down, especially seafood. But for the last month we've been getting the same quality as we used to enjoy dining in.

On the other hand, the midrange to high end regional chain restaurants in our area are still operating with a limited menu. And the restaurants that make most of their money on business clientele are closed. I really don't care if the latter go under. They've been offering average food at highly inflated prices and getting away with it because of referrals from hotel concierges etc.
