That's a whole lot of supposition

Are you suggesting that the protesters wearing KKK masks and hats and brandishing weapons while showing swastikas were not educated on the history of the Klan and the Nazi party, and therefore don't understand why people would be offended when they show support for those movements. In order words, the symbols themselves are as meaningless to the protesters as raising a middle finger. That is really hard for me to believe.

Another possibility is that they know what atrocities were committed by the Klan and Nazi Germany, and they condone them because they were raised to be straight up racist, and now they feel emboldened enough to reveal it.

I hope you're not suggesting that educated people shouldn't be offended when they see people publicly showing support for the Klan or Nazi party.
