What keeps the rate manageable?

That's what I would ask.

I've only seen aggregate data for the UK, so I don't know what's going on region by region. But over here, in many US states, we haven't even reached the peak and yet the restrictions are ending. In my state, the daily case load is still rising, but we haven't needed all the hospital capacity we set aside. And although the daily rates of hospitalizations and deaths are also rising, they're rising slowly. If the current trend continues, there will be no health care crisis here.

So what do we do? We remove the restrictions that were maintaining the current trend. Brilliant.



I think both of our countries are going to learn a lesson the hard way.
