If you're stuck with city water, a point-of-use filter (even a Brita pitcher/filter) or , perhaps, a (small?) RODI system (see below) might be helpful.The funny thing about water (actually... there are a lot of funny things about water, as any biochemist should know!) is that really high purity water doesn't "taste" very good. Many of the bottled waters on the market start with RODI water (purified by deionization and reverse osmosis, thus "RODI"), then add back a cocktail of (very small amounts of) minerals to give it that fresh, clean, snappy water taste.
