That's one great recommendation!

Truth is - most Americans have no idea what the Soviet regime really was. They have that notion that the Nazi were bad, but the Soviets were different.

In fact there was never any difference between the two regimes. And the fact the Soviets somehow became the innocent victim is one of the greatest travesties in history. They did the same things, from two directions - murdering, pillaging, destroying, and finally meeting in the middle of Poland.

Just two bandits... one eventually stabbing the other one in the back. Simply because he moved faster.

The American left fascination with communism stems from their inability to see beyond the most primitive slogans. They take "free education" and translate it literally, totally void of any understanding of what it really means.

Sometimes I try to explain it to our American friends. My parents had two advanced professions. If they lived here, their income would be in the $500K+ territory. They would not have a problem sending their kids to the best school.

In Russia they had a 90 sq foot room in a communal apartment, with no bath, and with toilet and the kitchen shared with seven other families. Their real income was probably in the $50 a month range, it not less.

Sorry for the rant... but recently one idiot in our close circle of friends... a well educated Jew, living here since 1980, declared himself a Marxist.
