I use a Samsung ML 2955ND B/W Printer $120, which uses a large B/W toner cartridge which go for around $80; may sound like a lot but I've gotten hundreds of pages without the need to re-ink. Only drawback is it's not wireless; for this reason I 'retired' it and went with a Samsung Xpress SL-M2070FW/XAA $140; also b/w printer/scanner which performs like a champ.
