RE: Speaking of Parts Department: anyone had a complete hip replacement in the last couple of years?

As a matter of fact, I just had one on 12 November. Mine was necessitated by a fall onto pavement. Elective hip replacements are a different thing. I just started physical therapy and am still using a walker. My friend went through an elective replacement a couple years ago and told me that most of his recovery was accomplished after just three weeks. He still took the remaining five weeks of recovery time off.

While I may have between 6-8 weeks to accomplish the greatest part of the recovery, I am heartened by the fact that the rehab is well understood by physical therapy professionals. Their biggest problem will probably be keeping me at an even level to prevent me from overdoing things. I've got attitude, determination, and expectations to be back in the gym and out in the garden by the beginning of April.
