I walk in a park near my house almost daily. A year ago I would see 3-5 rabbits most mornings, sometimes more. Then I saw a coyote one morning and soon after, I realized that I wasn't seeing rabbits anymore. Several other walkers told me that they had seen coyotes in the park. The rabbits completely disappeared for months. Lately I have been seeing a few rabbits again.
The coyotes travel around. They wipe out a food source in one location and move on to another. When the rabbit population comes back, the coyotes come back.
