I heard him deliver a keynote address on "Exponential Technologies" at a software convention last year.
Some incredible stuff.
I'd recommend watching the entire video, but focus on some solar data starting at about 20:10.
Short story: solar is one such technology where the costs involved are dropping every year. My take would be to wait a bit longer for a much better cost/benefit ratio - unless of course you are now forced to replace some electrical infrastructure.
