And it's worth it to me to live in inexpensive paradise near our kids and risk a hurricane from time to time. We went on vacation once when the kids were young across the country. When we got home my oldest son asked us why they don't have good food anywhere else.

I never understood living in CA. I have an adopted step sister who raised her kids there in a rented apartment because they could never afford a house. She's still there. I think there is some kind of snob appeal. I've been there. I didn't see paradise ( it's not here either unless you are eating Cajun food, then you are there for 30 minutes).
