must be a big rat nearby

I went to my car the other day and behind my garage was a trail of rat turds, and I mean a LOT. I swept them away and two days later they're back. Ok now I'm pissed, I look for any entries into my house and could'nt find any. I'm think he (or they) are getting into my neighbor's dog food they leave out all night. There's also a large empty lot next to me; perfect for varmits to hang out.

No more than an hour later I'm on Amazon looking at my options. Traps are out, whether they be spring loaded, electric zappers, glue etc., they're a no-no because I have a big phobia over rats! Field mice I can deal with but rats? hell no!

So after a little research on youtube and other places I decided on bait traps. Ideal for me since they eat all the want and wobble off somewhere (hopefully far from me):

both traps for $22

and bait:

peanut flavored no less; 4 lbs for $25

Amazon delivered both on the same day, I had them both loaded and placed outside that evening.

Next day I went to check and no bites although the trap had been moved out of it's place. I returned the trap and placed a large 10lb brick on top of it. Couple days later still no bites but more turds notcied. Hmmmmm I thought, time to re-evaluate. I decided to give the little guy a 'little help' so I crushed one of the bait blocks and poured it inside the trap by the opening (don't worry-no stray cats or dogs could get that far in)plus it's behind a fence far from any common area.

Well the next day I couldn't believe my eyes, One of the traps was dragged all the way across the side of the garage into the grass and the other (with the ten pound brick on top) was emptied and brick laid half way off it. Needless to say I was delighted, so I repeated the process and placed both traps where they were.
