I drive a Honda Ridgeline. I have alternated between SUVs and trucks most of my life. IMO every family needs a truck on occasion. A truck is better for hauling stuff. SUVs did better for me when we did a lot of canoeing and camping. The Rideline Is 4WD, but not hardcore.

It does some things exceptionally well in that it's 2WD in most situations, but when a wheel starts to slip, it electronically compensates. It's technically AWD in normal mode.

It also has a button that can be pressed to lock it in 4WD. I have only used that on a couple of occasions when I saw myself getting into trouble. It works well for my location. I have no idea about snow and driving in ND.
