A great loss

I was a witness to most of his career-I saw most of his games, both at the stadium and on television (and through the visual images painted on radio by Jerry Coleman, Ted Leitner and Dave Campbell). No athlete has ever brought me greater joy-I don't collect sports memorabilia, but Tony is the exception, I've got lots of stuff including a signed bat. In person, he was exactly as described in all the tributes written about him. I traveled to Cooperstown in 2007 for his Hall of Fame induction, and it was an amazing and beautiful experience.

Been fighting back tears all week-next Thursday his memorial service will be held at the ballpark, and I'll be there.
