Saturday mechanics are a thing of the past. How many kids do you know who fix (or care to fix) their own cars. Also they're more interested in fuel economy and in getting you to bring the car to the dealer for repairs, thus insuring their revenue stream. So, if they can charge you for four hours instead of one, they're happy to do so.

I stopped for gas this morning on the way to work and wandered into the repair bay to see what my friend the mechanic was doing. He was changing the oil on a Mazda which required him to remove a plastic shroud (10 bolts), which covered the engine and transmission, from the bottom of the vehicle to get to the oil filter. All in the name of a few tenths of a mpg improvement?
