Rick58,

I'm 6'2 and have proportionally long legs- the legs of someone 7'1. My theory is that the Dutch evolved long legs to live in bogs and below sea level.

I've only driven an S2000 twice but I found the driving position to be instantly comfortable- once I got in and settled - among the best of any car I've driven including Ferrari' which are always excellent in that way. While it's a bit tight in some ways- narrow seats, the gear change, steering wheel and pedals are seem in nearly perfect relationships to me, and I can see all the instruments. I never felt I had to brace my legs either, which helps the sense of security. Importantly, the horizontal bar of the windscreen is high enough that I'm not staring into it the way I did with the earlier Mazda Miata- I simply couldn't drive the Miata until the redesign about 3-4 years ago, and it's still marginal. My Miata firend is about 6' and he always had to remove the sun visors on his Miatas.

As well as it works for me, I would say though that the S2000 may not be comfortable for bulky people- I'm 185 lbs and would not like to be 230 if I had an S2000. It's narrow like old British sports cars and fits like a glove- you kind of wear it -once you get in and tie yourself down it's a very secure feeling. Combioned with a rigid frame, it's far more confident feeling than the slug-a-bed Audi TT. By the way, the S2000 has a real sports car feel- besides the confidence in maneuvering and braking, these have have a very firm suspension and lots of road feel. Fantastic sound by the way too- that ripping canvas bleet-ka-bleet on the overrun- never polite- just the way I like it!

Honda should make another sports car- Z4, TT, Boxster competitor using a tuned, bored out version of the excellent 268HP Accord V-6. They are really good at it- the Acura NSX was another winner. My attorney "Bruiser" drove one for several years and only a 2000 Porsche 997 Cabriolet pried the NSX out of his hands. - And a 1985 Buick pried the 997 out of his hands- the $500 uninsured, unregistered Buick broadsided the Porsche and did $38,000 damage. The driver left for Guatemala the next day. Can you imagine being an uninsured, unlicensed illegal immigrant and totaling a $95,000 Porsche driven by a Los Angeles attorney? I'd leave the country too,..

Oh Hell, I could talk cars all day!

Cheers,

Bambi B
