In Reply to: Anyone had a rotator cuff injury and/or surgery? posted by bboroski on March 12, 2010 at 07:46:47:
bboroski,
I have never had the rotator cuff injury, but I used to know someone who knew quite a few people who have- the Captain of the U.S. water skiing team. With high-speed water skiing- they're going 80+mph, when the skiers fall, apparently there is often an instinctive thrust of the arm to break the fall and the extreme pull by the drag of the water on the arm at the shoulder causes the rotator cuff injury. This must be reasonably common injury as the ski team stayed in touch with a specialist in that injury. As far as I know, the surgery must be successful- though I don't know the recovery time- as the injured skiers went back to full-bore racing.
I hope you can resolve this satisfactorily- I've heard it hurts like hell.
Cheers,
Bambi B
