and I wish I could help. There is a limit to how far you should run usb. not sure what it is, but on the order of 10' or thereabouts I think. You may get an answer over in hi rez, but the PC Audio guys are more into the DAC stuff.
You could also ask Bill at morningstar, if that's where you bought it. He's a very nice/helpful guy. I have a couple other EE pieces - cdp (also has hdcd de-coding) and the minimax preamp. I love the stuff and if I were spending money on a dac today, that one is on my short list.
