Digi-guys...help!

Connected the Eastern Electric DAC to the office system. CDP setting works fine (coax connection), but with the USB connection, although the DAC shows it is receiving a signal, there is no sound.

It is a long run from the computer to the DAC, could it be the DAC recognizes there is a signal but it's too weak or corrupted to produce sound?

Windows XP.

I got into device manager and the computer sees a generic USB device, not a labeled Eastern Electric DAC as it would and did, for instance, with the USBpre.

You guys looking for a great DAC in the -1000 buck level ($750!!!), the EE is very, very good. Using my Alchemy as transport, the sound is shockingly good. Luckily, the HDCD coding was available for "the high-priced spread" back then! HDCD CDs are mind blowing!

But I want to hear hi-rez from the computer...so I remoived it from the big system and brought it into the office...but as stated above, no sound from the computer connection. The computer recognizes there is "something" and the DAC realizes there is some type of signal FROM the computer, but...

I'll ask at hi-rez or somewhere if no one knows here.
