...there are two "significant" urban areas in PA--not even "large" urban areas. If you ever lived outside the "city", you'd realize this.
But the whole point is that allowing gas prices to go insane costs EVERYONE, the poor/lower-income disproportionately. People that have never even owned a car will pay at the store register. I'll pay the extra money at the pump and at the grocery-store register. I'll bitch about it, but I'll do it. Some people can't.
Putting your money where your mouth is?--buy a brand-new Leaf and drive it to haul your bike to the trails. If I need to catch a bus from here, I'll have to drive 20-30 miles to the nearest Greyhound station--and they might run about once a day.
Now you know why I don't care much about bike-lanes/trails/mass-transit, and neither does anyone else outside of Pittsburgh or Philly? I don't care outside of Cleveland, where I live. No sidewalks, minimal public transit into the city, unless you drive to the park 'n ride, or call an Uber/Lyft.
Start "fixing the problem" before you start "penalizing" people.
"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
