Wow, I disagree.

"....aren't people who are threats to the community at large, and most of them, probably 99% of them will never do anything like this again. Jailing them serves no purpose."

How you could not think those people adequately demonstrated that they are threats to OUR DEMOCRACY is beyond me. There is no doubt in my mind that they continue to be a threat.

IMO we DO need to make an example of plenty of 'em to show that the overwhelming majority of Americans will not tolerate what they did. Do you think senators were evacuated under armed guard for laughs? Do you think had they not had hundreds of right wing fools following them that the individuals who injured/killed Capitol cops would have done what they did?

I'm not in favor of lengthy jail sentences for idiots who just walked around the Capitol screaming bs after ring leaders broke down doors/windows, but I do think they deserve enough to make a serious impression on 'em.
