"The MCCA, which has members in 69 of the largest cities in the U.S., released the findings of their survey in October and compiled data from May 25 to July 31, 2020. In total, 8,700 protests took place in major American cities during that time period."
"In cities where violence did occur, assaults on police officers, looting, and arson were the most common criminal activities. Approximately, 72% of major city law enforcement agencies had officers harmed during the protests. This included nearly every agency that experienced at least one violent protest. In total, over the course of the civil unrest from May to July, more than 2,000 officers sustained injuries in the line of duty. One agency reported 50 officers being injured in a single week of protests. Another agency reported that 462 of their officers were injured during the protests in their jurisdiction."
Not defending Rittenhouse, and like I posted, as a legitimate/legal gun-owner, I am appalled that the judge dropped the sole 100%-guilty gun charges. Apparently, WI does not have "enhancements" for crimes committed with a firearm?
And yes, I'd have utilized the National Guard and a fleet of tractor trailers as Paddy Wagons to clear violent protests and sought prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. "We're angry" is NOT justification for the damages incurred. I get angry too, but I don't burn and loot--and then expect to get a "free pass".
Ask my (black) attorney how he feels about it. His office was damaged/ransacked, and his wife's car destroyed. And then he was approached to provide pro-bono legal assistance to the alleged perpetrators.
The Capitol rioters--charge them appropriately as well. However, the Shaman is NOT the right person to be "making an example of". He was diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses while in custody. He needs help, not 3 1/2 years in prison (where he will get none).
"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
