You missed the core concept

why are we *reintroducing* a tax loophole that only benefits the top one tenth of one percent?

From the link I provided:

"The liberal-leaning Brookings Institution estimates that eliminating the SALT cap would give members of the top 0.1 percent an average tax cut of nearly $145,000. Meanwhile, members of the middle class would, on average, see a $27 tax cut."

By all accounts, I thought the mantra was pillage the rich ! ;)
