Opposition was specifically to the usual completely unrelated pork measures and tax increases that (fortunately) didn't make the bipartisan cut. It was actually the other side of the aisle that kept it captive for some time.

The *social spending* bill that awaits CBO scoring is rife with preposterous measures - for those who pay attention to detail. ;)
