RE: The "cost" argument is the biggest red herring of them all

I agree that energy revolution is coming regardless and when I glance through the window on the local power grid it looks very XIX century here with wooden utility poles and low hanging wires. Personally I see future in nuclear power and rationally used renewable sources where it makes sense. After fossil fuels are depleted.
I just read that Great Britain is considering opening a new coal mine. First since 30 years and our Euro members are conspicuously silent recently on their "success" with renewable sources of energy with doubling prices there.
Hardly anybody pitching "saving the planet" mantra practice what they preach. All the new houses are way too big, domestic products, cars are way too big and use too much of the resources. The economy based on the shopping public's mood is not sustainability kind of economy leading to change of course and the whole TV watching world is aspiring to have that kind of life. Unless there will be a cataclysm on a planetary scale (nuclear war or something similar ) I'm confident that nothing significant will change. We will adapt and progress as fast as the available science allows. We cut the trees in the first world and made highways and shopping centers and golf clubs and we are first to dictate Brazil that they are not to have highways, shopping centers and golf clubs because the trees have to be preserved. It simply won't work.
