And wages have been stagnant compared to productivity in the era of trickle-down economics. Reasonable men cannot differ about whether we should have a robust middle-class. China has been growing its middle class -- meanwhile the U.S. has been killing its middle class. IMHO, it's the difference between good government and bad; and growing prosperity is one of the legitimate functions of government; or in the obverse, killing prosperity is a sign of corruption and failure in the halls of government.
