I've never seen anything from you indicating you see anything whatsoever wrong with the wealth inequality in the U.S. displayed in the link.I don't covet success. While we moan about Windows, what Bill Gates did with Microsoft has and will continue to transform how the world does business and has vastly improved efficiency. Everyone today has multiple computers - many more powerful than Cray 1 supercomputers. The ease with which we are having this exchange is but one example.
Amazon is another great success story. I'm delighted to be a Prime customer as it has completely spoiled by wife and me as to how we procure a wide range of things - with the least amount of friction.
We have billionaire musical performers, actors and athletes. Well, they are paid by those who purchase tickets to their events.
You've ridiculed every proposal to do something about it...
Only the irresponsible ones based upon massive spending . Throwing money at a problem is not a solution. And yes, while the 11% under poverty have no disposable income, a large segment of the middle class *choose* material goals and not saving.
Where will super-rich people park their money to avoid paying tax on unrealized gain?
An opinion piece by Mitt Romney provided some answers. There are many more like buying farm land. There are lots of places where the wealthy can park their money.
Should we just throw up our hands and say there is absolutely nothing we can do about a very small group of people owning/controlling the overwhelming majority our country's wealth IN PERPETUITY?
I'm not a socialist nor believe in Robin Hood-esque redistribution of wealth schemes. I believe in individual responsibility and focus on how I can play the game - and give generously to help others succeed. Not support increasing massive and wasteful gubment programs. I have a brother in law who is a family doc. What he says is there are large number of folks who waste large amounts of healthcare related spending because:
1. They continue to make poor lifestyle choices. Smoking and obesity are solvable conditions but you can't buy your way out of it.
2. People come to him for the most minor sniffles - because they can.My health plan is a high deductible HSA. There's no free lunch as I choose how to spend (and not waste) money.
My IT job involves using supply chain software to help distributors increase profits through making them more efficient and providing better customer service.
People need to take responsibility for their own actions and better themselves.
