Story, our own government spies on us. The FBI opens mail, does not need a warrant. Just asks the USPS for permission.
Over the last 40 years, the Supreme Court has taken a chainsaw to our 4th and 5th Amendment rights.
The president reserves the right, given him by Congress, to declare any American an enemy combatant and order his/her execution without even a whiff of due process. And yes, it's happened.
Our elections are a joke, just contests between groups of plutocrats, with many of them hedging their bets and buying candidates from both parties. Sometimes even from 3rd parties. For example, Cornel West's third-party candidacy this year is wholly funded by Harlan Crow. The same Harlan Crow who bought off Clarence Thomas.
If some foreign power took over, people would afraid and pissed off at first. But as the days and weeks went on, and nothing much changed, no one would care anymore.
I know you'd rather not think about this stuff but I can pretty much guarantee that I'm right.
