...my wife's old Cobalt, the timing chain started to rattle on start up...in 2010! So IF you hear that noise every once it a while, you probably have a ways to go until you need to address it.
Was still running strong when the Rusty Hook hauled it away. Rust got it, not mechanical issues.
I like the Impala, thought I'd like it better if the manual transmission was ever available. Chevrolet had a Super Sport model of the one like your with an LS engine in it, but the powerplant was too much for the automatic transaxle to handle supposedly.
But the AFAIK, the 3.6 in your car actually makes more power than the V8 did.
