If we wanted to visit our relatives in Indiana, PA, 60 miles away, we had to plan ahead.
But...as far as I'm concerned 400 miles one way is 150 miles farther than I'd ever drive in a day. The 250 mile drive from here to Bethesda, MD, to visit my brother in law, even that's farther than I want to drive in one trip. It's an awful drive, too.
My sister is about 160 miles away. That's as far as I'm willing to drive these days, and there are charging stations on the way there and back. If I have to go any farther than that, like when I was at the Outer Banks two years ago, I bum a ride with some other family member. I can get away with it because I'm old.
The reality is that folks who don't want EVs because of lack of range or the need to recharge seldom drive any farther than 15 miles from home.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
