And how about VANOS?

Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda, H/K, Nissan, all of them, variable valve timing is routine.
BMW is up to something like the 7th or 8th version of VANOS and still can't get it to work for long.
Most of the so-called German cars--they're made all over the world, like anything else--you want to trade them well before the warranty is up.
I'd exclude some Porsches. The sports cars are pretty durable. The trucks SUVs are badge-engineered Volkswagens. Not that I'd ever buy one anyway. You couldn't pay me to own one.
Cayenne won't help you, Cayenne won't do you no good.
