Alas, inflation anew...

The lowly banana, long a 19-cent bargain at Trader Joe's, is now 23 cents! It seems like they were 19 cents forever. EDIT: I read on CNBC that they've been priced at 19 cents since 2001!!!!

The most egregious sign of "shrinkflation" I've seen is at Harris Teeter. They took the house brand of tomatoes with diced green chilies (my go-to for chili) and reduced the size of the can from 14.5 ounces to 10 ounces - a 30-plus percent reduction - and left the price the same!

Small things, indeed, but it's stuff that tells me the Fed won't be cutting rates any time soon.
