So circa 2003 I pick up a well dressed fellow at an expensive hotel in SF. He get is and asks me how I doing. I say ok. He say, "Just ok". I say "What the fuck you want,I just had a sight threatening eye disease and have a shitty job that gets no respect" Then he proceeds to tell me a story of how he has it worst than me. He was married with kids for exactly 14 years which he said was the exact amount of time to wait so she could divorce him and get half his income for the rest of his working life. I guessed he made like $250 and he said something like that and that his parents sacrificed to put him through school and that his kids would suffer from his stunning decrease in take home income. He also said she would likely never marry as that would cut her off of the gravy train. A very memorable ride.
