How cold is too cold ?
I used to team swim in HS. Our pool was always on the cold side which made it great for shedding heat.
I didn't realize I became accustomed to swimming in cold water until we did an away meet and the school had their pool water turned up like bath water. The humidity in the air was heavy and doing a 200 or 500 was like swimming in a crock-pot, easily overheating.
If they trained in that warm water, they definitely had the "home court" advantage.
