...have long been known/recognized to be toxic--both in terms of environmental hazard, and workplace safety. That's why they have been heavily regulated/monitored for the better-part of a century.
This is not new "news". This is your grandfather's "yesterday's news". Why they (CA) chose to pick-on such a "niche" industry is beyond me. And I'm not just referring to chrome-plating for custom cars and automotive restoration--I'm referring to the entire commercial plating industry. It's total contribution to environmental damage and adverse impact on worker-safety absolutely pales in comparison to, let's just say, something like the petro-chemical industry?
Sounds rather personal or politically-motivated, to me, at least...
