A beauty it was; a Triumph Bonneville motor into a Norton Commando frame. Best of both.
I told the builder that I wanted the frame chrome-plated to look really snazzy.
He recommended against it, saying that chrome was brittle and the frame flexes. It would flake off and look pitted.
He advised to have it nickel-plated instead. Much more pliant of a metal. I took his advice and the bike looked great.
Dropping chrome plated auto parts won't be a big deal. But I don't know if other processes would be less toxic. I am sure however that chromes are a hazard we can do without.
