I bought an LG for my mom because it saved me a few bucks - I regret doing that.
A repair technician in Hong Kong who repaired TVs flat out says Sony is the best - the screens are all pretty much the same made in China - but according to him Sony has the best most reliable "engine."
I have a Sony flat screen from 2004 still works - my 60inch Sony here in HK I have had for around 8 years and it was a demo model so it was on 12 hours a day every day for a year. The Last one left so I bought it - they threw in a 5 year full replacement warranty. W850B - it was a midrange TV at the time. Still, it has been quite good.
I can't tell you anything about wifi or any smart functions.
The downside to the W850B is that it is heavy like 75lbs but it has better than average speakers. At the time it was known for being a really good gaming TV due to the fast refresh rates.
I bought a Sony PS4 because my logic was that these machines are manhandled by children - so it must be "stronger" than your average BluRay player right? So I bought one for movies - then I made a mistake and bought a video game for the hell of it - then I got hooked - some of the stories are better than movies. Far more entertainment value for the buck than a movie - $20 to buy a 2 hour "usually shitty" movie or $50 for 150 hours of a game with a terrific story.
Even an old guy like me can figure out how to play them.
So - get a Sony - get a PS4 or PS5 and get Mass Effect: The Legendary Edition - play as a male. You got romance, action, emotion, blood, gore, drugs, Best buddies, save the universe lol. And pretty damn good music score to boot.
You can show off your 4K UHD
