I have one. Used it once. I suppose it's good for roasts, probably is.
For steaks, use the "poke" test. Press on it with your finger.
If it's very soft, it's still raw.
If it's semi-firm, it's medium or so.
If it's firm, it's well-done.
As always, experience is key.
