That's why we never went deer-hunting on "opening day"...

...I grew-up in PA (where you are allowed to hunt with high-powered rifles). Someone/several family members have always had "hunting cabins". It has changed recently, but rifle-season for deer always started the Monday after Thanksgiving--it was like a State holiday.

Everyone endured their family for Thanksgiving dinner, went to "camp", got hammered for three days and then hit the woods at the crack of dawn on Monday--either hung-over as shit, or still drunk--with a high-powered rifle.

We always sat-out on "opening-day", unless we were hunting at home on our own property.

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
