Tangential thinking, also known as tangentiality, is a thought process where a person's responses or ideas deviate from the main topic, often including irrelevant details or abruptly shifting to unrelated subjects. While everyone engages in tangential thinking occasionally, it can become a problem when it's excessive or persistent, potentially indicating a thought disorder.
